1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using iMergeFiles at www.imergefiles.online (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. The date of the most recent revision is shown at the top of this page.

2. Description of the Service

iMergeFiles provides a free, browser-based tool for merging and combining files including PDF, CSV, JSON, Markdown, and plain-text files. The Service operates entirely client-side — your files are processed within your own browser and are never transmitted to iMergeFiles servers.

The Service is provided free of charge and is supported by advertising revenue via Google AdSense. No account, registration, or payment is required to use the Service.

3. Permitted use

You may use iMergeFiles for any lawful purpose, including personal, educational, and commercial use, subject to these Terms. You agree to use the Service only in ways that:

• Comply with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction
• Do not infringe the intellectual property rights of others
• Do not violate the privacy or rights of any third party
• Do not interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
• Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service

4. Prohibited use

You must not use iMergeFiles to process, merge, or distribute files that:

• Contain illegal content, including material that is defamatory, obscene, or constitutes hate speech
• Infringe copyright, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights
• Contain malware, viruses, or other malicious code
• Violate any applicable privacy laws or contain unlawfully obtained personal data
• Are used to facilitate fraud, deception, or any illegal scheme

We also prohibit any automated scraping, crawling, or bot-based use of the Service that places unreasonable load on our infrastructure.

5. Your files and intellectual property

You retain full ownership of all files you use with iMergeFiles and all merged outputs you create. We claim no rights whatsoever over your files or their contents.

Because all file processing happens locally in your browser, iMergeFiles never receives, stores, or processes your file contents on our servers (except where you voluntarily use the AI Smart Merge feature, which transmits content to Anthropic's API — see our Privacy Policy).

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to merge and use any files you process through the Service.

6. AI Smart Merge — additional terms

The AI Smart Merge feature sends the contents of your selected files to the Anthropic Claude API for intelligent merging. By using this feature, you additionally agree that:

• Your file contents will be transmitted to and processed by Anthropic's servers
• You have read and accept Anthropic's Consumer Terms of Service
• You will not use AI Smart Merge to process sensitive personal data, confidential business information, or any content you are not authorised to share with a third-party AI service

7. Advertising

iMergeFiles displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. By using the Service, you acknowledge that:

• Advertisements will be displayed alongside the Service content
• Google may use cookies and similar technologies to serve personalised ads
• You can opt out of personalised advertising via Google's Ad Settings

iMergeFiles does not endorse any products or services advertised on the site. Clicking advertisements may take you to third-party websites subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

iMergeFiles is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

• Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
• Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses
• Warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of merged outputs

You use the Service entirely at your own risk. We strongly recommend keeping backups of any important files before processing them with any online tool.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, iMergeFiles and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

• Loss of data or files
• Loss of profits or business opportunities
• Damage to your device or software
• Any other losses arising from your use of or inability to use the Service

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the use of the Service shall not exceed £100 (one hundred pounds sterling) or the equivalent in your local currency.

10. Third-party links and services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. iMergeFiles is not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any third-party site. Links are provided for convenience only and do not constitute endorsement.

11. Modifications to the Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

We may also update, change, or remove features of the Service at any time. We will endeavour to communicate significant changes, but are not obligated to do so.

12. Governing law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in the applicable jurisdiction. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
